Supplementary information (2nd part of the article)
There are 81 configurations in which the standings can be arranged at the end of the competition (considering the results of Matchday 17) for the teams disputing the last qualifying spots.
- In Tables 1, 2, and 3, we show the standings. We have grouped 9 standing tables for each sub-group (Table 1 refers to the case where Ecuador beats Argentina, Table 2 refers to the case where they tie, and Table 3 to the case where Argentina beats Ecuador). For each one, Chile has 3 values depending on the match against Brazil (giving a total of 27 possible configurations for each sub-group). The first two places qualify directly to the World Cup, the third place advances to the inter-confederation play-offs.
